The Elginvue Story

Elginvue Farms of Arlington, MN, was established in 1864 with the two and a half year project of raising a white Oak all-purpose barn. This barn is still standing today. Great grandfather John O. Mueller sired a son named Royal Levi Mueller. Royal married Frieda Wieman of Arlington and homesteaded the family farm. Royal and Frieda had 2 sons, John R. and Karl L. Mueller. Together they farmed the family farm as partners. While prospering in agriculture, they milked cattle, farmed with horses and farrowed 50 homebred hogs two times per year. Red Poll (dual purpose) cattle became a passion for the boys. Their unique breeding program stemmed from a herdsire by the name of Sir Elgin Advancer AR - the name and prefix 'Elginvue' was born. With breeding the most ever on record, and the most successful breeding and show herd in the world, they dispersed the herd in 1954. After the dispersal, Roy, John and Karl developed another herd of dairy cattle, which consisted mainly of Registered Holsteins.

With numerous local, state and national winners, Elginvue soon became a world known prefix. The farm exported cattle to 12 foreign countries with many repeat customers. Karl married Carol Kroehler in 1955 and they had one son named Kenny Mueller.

With Roy, John, Karl and Kenny all in partnership at Elginvue, the decision was made to disperse the herd again in 1990 with record breaking sales. In 2007, Kenny rekindled Elginvue's dairy herd again. He remains true to the breeding philosophies of his father, uncle and grandfather and is using old foundation bloodlines in the breeding program. Cows are once again being milked in the white Oak barn, and they are on the road again exhibiting at dairy cattle shows. Elginvue currently is milking 25 Holstein and Jersey cattle and owns 600 acres of land.
